I just finished reading the book "Man's Search for Meaning" for a class paper. I am as passionate as you are about Frankl's story; however, I cannot help but wonder how different this book might have been had he written it while a prisoner. The book is a must read for anyone debating reading it. This is one book that will not be sold back to the college.

Dear Teri,

I'm glad to try to help you with your endeavors in school. Writing a paper about Dr. Viktor Frankl is no easy task and I commend you for taking on such a challenging task. Frankl's logotherapeutic techniques are wonderful and his whole epistomology on life is unmatched.

Which Frankl, Logotherapy and/or Existential therapy books do you currently have? I have picked up many of his work in used book stores in the Philosophy sections. Do you have access to a University library's online data system? There are many programs (such as Eric, etc.) where you can find some great journal articles on Frankl and addictions.

Let me know how I can further help you.
All my best,
Dr. KC

Hello there to everyone!

Hoping this blog is still open. I am in the process of doing a paper in Addictions Counselling on the works of Dr. Viktor Frankl and his logotherapeutic techniques. I have only been able to acquire 3 of his books thus far including the inspirational "Man's Search For Meaning".
He is a truly amazing man, and I have included videos of him lecturing to students on my school power point presentation.

I was wondering if anyone could direct me to some outstanding written work on how logotherapy has helped in adddictions for the modern day. I have already been using Frankl's techniques but would like more indepth references and studies that have been done. Thankful for any and all replies. "Have a meaningful day!"

Dear Dr. Kelly
I used to buy books from old book shopts. That was more than thirty years ago. Each book would cost half an Indian Rupee. Today, one Dollar is almost equal to fifty Indian Rupees. Very few pleasures can match that of finding a treasure from an old book shop. I heard about Dr. Frankl but only recently had the chance to read it. It fortifies ones inner self. It gives meaning to ones trials and tribulations. With two daughters at the university, it becomes difficult for the father to come to grips to the change in values that the daughters exhibit. I think I am beginning to see life in a different perspective after reading "Man's Search for Meaning". When I read your article, I felt as though those words came out from my very heart.
May God Bless you.
Kind regards
Xavier S. Arputharaj

Dear J.D. Meier,

Thank you so much again for another amazing comment! You always have so much to add here!

I have not heard about the Golden Circle, but will now have to do my research to read about it. Thank you for bringing it up as it sounds very interesting.

Good job.

I too like the smell of old books.

Really fine point that suffering is relative. It's great to have reference examples and use the principle of contrast.

> “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.”
SWEET! Any chance you know about the Golden Circle? It's all about the Why and live from the inside out.

I like the point on attitude. I always remember that we at least constrol our attitude, our approach and our response.

Dear Dr. Roger,

I love to find those who share similar passions as I.

A true mentor and genius we certainly can find in Dr. Viktor Frankl, in my opinion.

Hello Doc,

Viktor Frank is one of my favorites. You have excellent taste.
His story of life in the concertration camps is horrific. But, yet, his
belief, faith and love helped him through this and gives us so much inspiration and strength.
